Good day all Just a quick question to the Pure team

Good day all Just a quick question to the Pure team & community. We have a customer utilising VMware's https://tanzu.vmware.com/tanzu|Tanzu for their K8s workloads. They have asked the question about backup/recovery options for those workloads. We were wondering if anyone has done some leg work already regarding delivering the PFA's snap/restore capabilities & integration into Tanzu/K8s clusters? In terms of backups, they wish to use Commvault for their backup orchestration. So we could more than likely leverage intellisnap for full VM level backups (but it does not necessarily answer the Tanzu/cluster re-integration question (at least, not that I am aware of (very happy to be incorrect about that))). Any thoughts/direction would be greatly appreciated.

  • Yeah with containers the "old-fashioned" full VM backup is not always the best option. PureStorage would be happy if you would chose their product for backup, maybe you can contact them and see how it will go. https://www.purestorage.com/company/newsroom/press-releases/portworx-enhances-px-backup.html|Portworx Backup (PX-Backup) And there is also some integration with PureStorage flashArray as well. I am interested about how you will solve this, please update us on what path will you chose

  • Was fortunate enough to have a sit down with some of the awesome Pure team (EMEA), and we discussed Portworx as an option. By the sounds of things, there has been quite a bit of work with Tanzu & Portworx. We will have to see if the customer has an appetite to spend for some Portworx licences. Otherwise, we will need to figure something else out.
