NDU replacement/upgrade

Hello everyone, I have a question I do not find an answer.
I have found these two commands that may or may not do the same thing, but can't confirm anywhere

purewes controller setattr --verify-array <array_name> ct0 --mode secondary

and

puredb run giveback --safe          <---- run from ct0

Supposedly, they both set ct0 as secondary, therefore ct1 as primary.
But, is it? What is the difference?

Thanks

  • Hi Dbz,

Interesting question! Some info for you:

    • purewes is a CLI utility wrapper tool created primarily to add additional safeguards to commonly used support commands such as puredb.
    • purewes versions of these commands are verbose and somewhat tedious to type. However, this is by design as we want to make it to make it much harder for technicians/support to perform actions that can disrupt a customer array by accident.
    • purewes also runs a series of health checks prior to running certain commands to ensure the proposed action doesn't result in a SEV-1.

purewes controller setattr command which runs only on the primary controller, begins the giveback procedure only after running a series of additional healthchecks to ensure that the current secondary can indeed takeover,

puredb run giveback --safe command does not do the health checks.

Thanks for the help debjeetbagchi 💪
