💡Technology Tip Thursday:💡Beyond Windows, What Was Your First OS?

It’s another Thursday and your 💡 Technology Tip Thursday 💡 is here! This month shares many technological milestones, but one extremely important one that changed the trajectory of computers is what we’ll focus on today.

Did you know that this month in 1983, Bill Gates unveiled Windows as a graphical operating environment for MS-DOS at a press conference?

There was no Microsoft Windows 1983 release; instead, the first version, Windows 1.0, was announced by Bill Gates on November 10, 1983, but was not released to the public until November 20, 1985. The 1983 date marks the public announcement of the project, not the commercial launch of the product, which was a graphical user interface (GUI) for MS-DOS.

Windows is such an integral part of the computer ecosystems today, however there are numerous other operating systems that we’ve all tinkered with as well.

So the question is: What was the very first Operating System (OS) or Shell you remember working with, and what was your favorite feature (or frustration) of that system?

Share your memories below! Did you start with DOS, OS/2, maybe an early version of Linux, or something else entirely? Be sure to comment on your peers' replies!
