Introducing: 💡 Technology Tip Thursday! 💡 Plus A Walk Down Internet Memory Lane!
I'm excited to announce the launch of another new bi-weekly series in the community:
💡 "Technology Tip Thursday!" 💡
To kick things off, here's a little piece of tech history: Did you know that this month in 1997, Wi-Fi officially became publicly available?
The IEEE 802.11 Working Group (led by Vic Hayes, often called the "Father of Wi-Fi") released the first official 802.11 standard. This standard allowed for wireless data transfer at speeds up to 2 Mbps. However, it wasn't widely adopted due to issues with interoperability and relatively slow speeds.
Pretty wild to think how far we've come since then!
Which begs the question for our very first "Technology Tip Thursday": What’s your earliest or most memorable interaction with the internet?
Whether it was a dial-up modem screaming in the background, your very first email address or a groundbreaking website you discovered, share your stories below! We’re really looking forward to reading your memories and seeing if others share some of the same!
Is there a specific memory shared by another community member that really resonated with you or brought back your own forgotten memory? Let them know in the comments below!
