We had our first "Ask Us Everything" for our community and we spent the time focusing on Pure Fusion.

We kicked off our inaugural Pure Storage Community Ask Us Everything event with Pure Fusion as the star of the show. Confetti flew, questions poured in, and what followed was a lively conversation between customers, partners, and Pure experts.

JD and I had a great time helping out with this event.  As Principal Technologists events like this are the best part of our jobs!

What's Fusion you ask?  Pure Fusion transforms your storage arrays into a unified, cloud-like platform, letting you control hundreds of systems with just a few clicks—no more silo stress or script gymnastics.

It’s built right into Pure arrays and instantly unlocks effortless provisioning, smarter workflow automation, and next-level cyber resilience.

Think of it as turning your storage management into a hands-off, policy-driven celebration, where orchestration is simple and your data dances to your rules.

The goal was simple: get answers to your toughest questions about Fusion — what it is, how it works, and how it can simplify storage management. Here are some of the most insightful questions from the session, and what we learned together.

“What happens if Fusion goes down?”

A fair concern — and one of the first questions asked. The answer? Fusion is built for resilience. Its controller automatically shifts across arrays in your fleet, and even if Fusion were offline, your storage keeps running. You lose the management layer temporarily, not the workloads.

“What if we need to move off Pure someday?”

Nobody likes lock-in, and this question sparked a thoughtful exchange. Fusion relies on open standards (block, file, object) and is completely out of the data path so your data remains portable. While Fusion is focused on Pure arrays, it avoids the proprietary traps some vendors use.

“Can Fusion make snapshots easier to manage?”

Snapshot sprawl came up as a real-world challenge. Our experts explained how Fusion applies policy-driven governance, making it easier to enforce SafeMode and retention across environments. Fusion also makes snapshot management… well, a snap, by giving you central management of all snapshots in your fleet. Monitoring usage still happens in Pure1, but Fusion ensures consistency at scale.

“Do we need a greenfield deployment?”

Nope. This one got a lot of nods from customers. Fusion is already embedded in Purity (6.8.1+ for FlashArray, 4.5.6+ for FlashBlade). It works with existing volumes, APIs, and automation. From any array, you can view and manage your entire fleet.

“How about multi-tenancy and global fleets?”

Service providers and global enterprises asked about separation and governance. While Fusion doesn’t yet solve every multi-tenant use case, tags, presets, and policies already give admins strong controls. Future enhancements will expand regional and compliance-aware features.

The Big Takeaway

What made this event special wasn’t just the answers — it was the conversation. Customers raised tough, practical questions, and Pure experts shared candid insights, from failover design to real-world deployment advice. That’s exactly what we aim to deliver in these Ask Us Everything sessions!

The message was clear: Fusion is simple to adopt, resilient by nature, and designed to make storage management smarter and easier.

And the best part? It’s already in your arrays, at no extra cost.  Learn how to get started in just three clicks.

👉 Next time on our Pure Community Ask Us Everything session, we’ll tackle Purity upgrades and bust some myths. We hope you’ll join us — confetti optional, great questions required. We hope you’ll join us.
