Does anybody actually buy business services from unsolicited emails or LinkedIn messages?

I was curious, so I actually asked one salesperson! I took them up on a 30 minute conversation for insight into their response rates.  For them, it was single digit percentages.  

Something personalized would get me to engage though. Something signaling they spent a few minutes looking at my prior experience or interest!
