On November 29, 1972, Atari released the video game Pong, which became the first commercially successful arcade video game. Created as a simple training exercise by engineer Allan Alcorn, the two-dimensional table tennis game was an instant hit that established Atari and the video game industry. Videogames are a huge source of entertainment for many today. It's amazing to see how fast the technology got better of over time since it's beginnings.
